As some of you might know, I also do games, not play them much, but I love gameDev, so I recently started with some projects involving game development, pretty excited about that.
I found a few very nice and FREE engines, the one I loved the most for 3D games is GAMEKIT http://code.google.com/p/gamekit/ it was a lot of power and you can deliver to the iPhone/iPad, that's sweet.
But, I was looking for something simpler for now, and after looking and testing a LOT of 3D and 2D engines I had to get back to the one that bet them all, FLASH!, yeah, Mr, Jobs may not like it, but is the best one out there for 2D stuff, and Actionscript 3 is awesome, besides, I already know AS3, if you add FLASHPUNK http://flashpunk.net/ to the mix that becomes an awesome way to develop games.
After I got that, I had to figure out how to do this on LINUX, yeah, I'm that kind of guys :P , I searched around and already knew a few ways to do it, since the Flex SDK compiles .as files great on any OS, I needed a nice IDE, i was gonna use sprouts, from http://projectsprouts.org but it was not exactly what I needed, and compiles kinda slow. By pure luck I stumble upon fb4linux, which is an unofficial port of Flash Builder 4 for linux an it works awesome, here;s the link http://code.google.com/p/fb4linux
So that's it, if you wann make games and wanna keep it on linux, go a head and do it.
